Welcome to The Crooked Billet
Recently renovated by new landlords Matt and Jas Clarke, The Crooked Billet is a traditional, dog friendly, country pub, set alongside the beautiful River Whitewater, which flows through the tranquil pub garden.
Situated on the outskirts of Hook on the A30, just a short drive from Hartley Wintney, Odiham and Crookham, and just 15 minutes from Basingstoke, the pub offers a wide selection of home cooked, locally sourced, seasonal food, with a mix of traditional pub favourites as well as Asian influenced dishes, all mirroring Matt’s world wide culinary experience. Jas, along with manager Lydia, ensure a friendly, welcoming service with a wide range of ales, lagers, wines to suit all tastes and classic cocktails.
Whether you are popping in for a quick pint and a chat by the river, or celebrating a special occasion with a meal, The Crooked Billet is the perfect choice.
A little about our team ...
Matt has been cooking for over 30 years, starting his career at the Ritz in London and then working around the world on a culinary adventure. Jas has been managing front of house internationally for over two decades and wine is a particular passion for her. They have been working together for over 20 years, meeting while employed together at the stunning Chateau Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies. The rest as you say is history!
Lydia joins the team as Manager, and brings with her 25 years of experience working in the hospitality industry. Described by many as ‘small but mighty’, she is expert at making sure everything runs smoothly and guests enjoy a great experience.
The final member of the family, Juno, joined them in early 2022… her favourite things include Matt’s food, treats, balls and cuddles… and of course, biscuits!
As well as running The Crooked Billet, Matt and Jas are also landlords of the beautiful countryside pub, The Yew Tree situated in Lower Wield near Alresford. If you are out that way, please pop in and enjoy a drink and a meal there too!
